The Skinny on Vaccines

Did you know….?

The three CDC approved COVID-19 vaccines and their effectiveness rates are:

  • Pfizer/BioNTech – 95%
  • Moderna – 94%
  • Johnson & Johnson /Janssen – 88%

Once you are fully vaccinated, it takes two full weeks before the vaccines reach the maximum effectiveness in your body. This means that for two weeks after you receive your final vaccine dose, you can still become infected with the coronavirus (or a version of it) if you come into contact with an infected person, whether they display symptoms or not. You can still transmit the coronavirus to others who have not been vaccinated, or are not yet past their two week vaccination period.

Children under the age of 12 and those who are not yet vaccinated, can become infected and transmit the virus to others, including the newly vaccinated who have not yet reached vaccine effectiveness.

Remember: Given the effectiveness percentages of the vaccines, not one of them is 100% effective in preventing COVID-19 exposure, infection or transmission.
